An article from rising Chelsea source Max Fretwell for Striver today has some interesting ideas about the Blues’ transfer plans going forward.
He makes a number of big claims, not least about the Blues’ plans up top for the summer.
“Sources have told Striver Football that Chelsea will give Alonso a huge say on both sales and purchases, with Nicolas Jackson one of those that could potentially stay, should Xabi Alonso decide so.”
The first part is obvious – Alonso wouldn’t have signed up with the Blues without knowing he was going to get a major say. The second part is interesting – with Liam Delap struggling so much and Emmanuel Emegha not looking like the answer, a chance for Jackson to redeem himself under a new coach looks a good idea.
The question, as always, is if Jackson is keen on that. Surely an exciting coach like Alonso will be pretty persuasive as the Senegal star looks to further his development?
Chelsea’s academy players had an amazing year when we were in the Conference League, and we could be about to repeat that.
The Chelsea coach was also asked about how much Xabi Alonso would use the academy, and had some strong thoughts about that.
