I am seeing the question getting asked, along the lines of… when on earth did Manchester United and Newcastle United last meet in these circumstances at Old Trafford?
So many people thinking Newcastle are going to go there and win.
Not just Newcastle United fans.
Neutrals as well, plus actually especially so many Manchester United fans believing they will lose at home to NUFC.
Newcastle United on the rise and Manchester United seemingly heading the other way.
Manchester United have lost five of their last six domestic matches.
Newcastle United have won all of their last four.
Manchester United have only won four of their last twelve domestic matches and three of those were at home to relegation fighting Everton and Leicester x2 (cup and league), plus that freak 2-1 very late win at a totally out of form Man City, who were leading 1-0 when reaching the 88th minute.
Newcastle United have lost only two of their last eleven games, have won seven of them, including wins over Arenal, Chelsea, Forest and Villa.
Goals
Manchester United have failed to score in three of their last six domestic games.
Newcastle United have failed to score in only three of their 22 games all season.
Manchester United have scored seven goals and conceded 15 in their last six domestic games.
Newcastle United have scored 14 goals and conceded only one in their last four matches.
Manchester United have conceded three goals in each of their last two matches at Old Trafford, to Forest and Bournemouth.
Newcastle United have scored 19 goals in their last six games.
So getting back to that question which is now being asked… when on earth did Manchester United and Newcastle United last meet in these circumstances at Old Trafford?
Newcastle United had lost only three of their last fifteen Premier League matches.
Manchester United had only won two of their last eleven Premier League matches, both at home, to relegation fighting Sheffield United and Everton.

Newcastle United had scored 38 goals in their last 15 Premier League matches.
Manchester United had conceded 22 goals in their last 11 Premier League games and kept only once clean sheet in their last 13 PL matches.
How many years ago?
So, exactly how many years ago did this last build up to a Manchester United v Newcastle United occur?
Yes, that’s right, only seven months ago!
On 15 May 2024, Newcastle United rocked up at Old Trafford, pretty much everybody, especially Manchester United fans, expected them to win.
That Newcastle didn’t win and somehow actually lost 3-2, was down to a ridiculous combination of maybe the weight of expectation and a slight freeze to an extent, but mainly down to the usual things when upsets like this happen. Namely, poor defending and goalkeeping in key moments, numerous great chances wasted by Newcastle, bad luck, plus some laughable decisions from the match officials, especially how both the referee and VAR managed to decide no penalty, despite a clear foul on Anthony Gordon and his sock shredded by the studs of a Manchester United player.
Lightning can’t be allowed to strike twice in the same place, only seven months apart.
I believe that Eddie Howe will absolutely have his Newcastle United players wound up to dominate this from the first whistle, pressing high and getting Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton to control the midfield and dictate play.
