Forward was missing from most recent squad list
Nigeria fans are questioning the whereabouts of star striker Victor Osimhen after the Super Eagles revealed their latest squad update.
Nigeria took to social media to list their ‘21 players in camp’, but fans were quick to notice Osimhen’s name was not amongst them.
The Galatasaray striker has played a huge role in firing the Super Eagles back into contention in World Cup qualifying, netting a hat-trick in a crucial 4-0 win over Benin back in October.
The result meant that Nigeria pipped Benin to a play-off spot behind group winners South Africa, and they now take on Gabon in the semi-finals before a final game against either Cameroon or the DR Congo.
The winners of that four-team mini-tournament will then be entered into the inter-confederation play-off to decide the final two sides at next year’s World Cup.
Now, however, it does not appear that Osimhen is with his international team-mates, despite being included in the original squad.
In the X replies to Nigeria’s ‘players in camp’ post, one fan wrote, “Where is Spiderman?! Where is VICTOR OSIMHEN?”, while another replied “Hope you people are in contact with Victor Osimhen?”.
“Have you called Victor Osimhen?”, one user posted.
Nigeria will be hoping to have their centre-forward for the game against Gabon, which takes place on Thursday, November 13 at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
