Sunderland are reshaping their wings after Simon Adingra's underwhelming start. The Ivorian joined from Brighton for £21m in the summer and has one goal in 15 appearances.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Black Cats have lined up Anderlecht's Nilson Angulo to replace Adingra, who is close to a loan move to Monaco. BBC Sport reports the fee would be £17.5m.
The 12-time Ecuador international has contributed seven goals and five assists in 30 games for Anderlecht this season, with the 34-time champions currently fourth in the Pro League.
Such a fee would place Angulo level with Noah Sadiki as Sunderland's fifth-costliest signing, behind Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Chemsdine Talbi and Enzo Le Fee.
That price would deliver a major profit for Anderlecht, who paid £1.6m to sign him from LDU Quito in 2022.
Sunderland hope to have Angulo available for Saturday's trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal, following a home game against relegation-threatened Burnley on Monday night that kicks off an hour after the transfer deadline.
