According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, FootballDatabase ranks Villarreal 33rd in the world, 31st in Europe and fourth in Spain, behind Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona. That list places them ahead of Lens, AC Milan, Real Betis and Valencia.
