Leonardo Jardim’s arrival at Flamengo offers fresh chances for at least six players after Filipe Luís’s sacking unsettled the squad. According to Globo.com, Jardim named Luiz Araújo and Pedro in Thursday’s news conference at Ninho do Urubu.

Vitão, a 2025 Brasileiro standout signed from Inter, played in six of 12 under Filipe Luís, starting all. Despite solid displays he did not nail down a place, and with Léo Ortiz out of form, his status could change.

De la Cruz has struggled with knee issues and was managed this season, featuring in six of 12 with three starts, then being substituted. He also lost ground after Jorginho and Saúl arrived in 2025, and Lucas Paquetá in 2026 as a second midfielder.

Luiz Araújo had early fitness problems and remains a luxury reserve, with six outings and two starts. Jardim tried to take him to Cruzeiro last year, but Flamengo would not negotiate the number seven.

Bruno Henrique played in nine of 12, starting three, often away from his preferred left flank. In the final year of his contract, he must convince Jardim to earn a renewal.

Wallace Yan was highlighted by Jardim among his transition forwards, yet had only two late cameos under Filipe in the Campeonato Carioca. Pedro endured public friction with Filipe Luís last year, improved in 2025 before injuries, and in 2026 has 11 appearances with five starts, always withdrawn in the second half. Jardim has expressed belief in him.
