One Chelsea insider is hearing some whispers to suggest that Chelsea could genuinely sign a Premier League striker this month!

Plenty of things going on right now in the wonderful world of transfer rumours, and Chelsea are all over the back pages right now so to speak.

We are hearing many different stories regarding potential Chelsea deals this month after what was expected to be a very quiet window for The Blues. However, could they now be looking to accelerate some potential summer moves to now? Maybe.

We’ve been hearing all about a potential pursuit to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in the last couple of day. And Bayern are also really keen on signing Christopher Nkunku in a deal that also looks like it has decent chances of happening soon.

One other surprise deal we could now see is Chelsea bringing in a new out and out striker, especially if Nkunku does go. Even though he is not a striker, he has been filling in there as Nicolas Jackson’s back up more often than not.

Our reporter Simon Phillips has been hearing some really intriguing whispers from his contacts this morning.

Writing on his Substack site in an exclusive article today, Phillips reports that Chelsea are genuinely looking to now try and sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this month.

He says: ‘SPTC sources have heard that Chelsea have now approached the agents of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap for the second time this window.

‘We are unsure on the exact topic of conversations there at the moment, but we do know Chelsea have been seriously considering trying to get this one done THIS month. So you’d imagine that it could well be to speak on personal terms. We have to wait and see any further details on this, but if Chelsea can sign Delap this month, then they will at least try. Ipswich have so far been saying not for sale in January, but with this latest news of fresh contacts with his agents does make me wonder if Chelsea now believe something is doable in January. Delap, keen on the move.’
