Leonardo Jardim has called nine academy players for Flamengo’s Algarve camp, offering a close look during the mid-season work in Portugal. Lorran and Rayan Lucas join after returning from loans.
According to Globo.com, seven further prospects are included, none a regular in first-team training, though several have intermittently bolstered sessions or benches amid absences.
Under-17 captain Daniel Thuram was kept back from a Brazil youth call-up so coaches can assess him on this trip. He played in the Carioca under Filipe Luís, is the only U17-age pick, and is contracted to 2028 with a 50 million euros clause.
Also travelling are midfielder Guilherme Gomes, full-back Daniel Sales, winger Alan Santos, João Victor and left-back Johnny. Gomes has featured since 2024, Sales started the opener against Vasco, Johnny returned from shoulder surgery, and João Victor played against Coritiba in the Brasileirão.
Attacking midfielder Joshua, a leading academy talent, hit last year’s Copa do Brasil winner against Botafogo-PB and came on versus Coritiba in May. He signed at 16 to 2029 with a 50 million euros clause.
Lorran and Rayan Lucas will be evaluated for possible continuity, with further loans not ruled out when the window opens. Both have trained with the group.
The squad meet on Sunday, fly to Lisbon, then base in Lagos before moving to Estoi. Friendlies at Estádio Algarve are on 3 July v River Plate, 8 July v Lausanne and 11 July v Benfica, before returning on 12 July.
