The two clubs will go head to head in the showpiece fixture of Europe’s elite club competition on May 30 at the 67,155-capacity Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

It is a rematch of last season’s blockbuster Champions League semi-final tie, when PSG won 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium before holding off a spirited Arsenal fightback in Paris in the second leg to triumph 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

It was another successful night for the French giants in Munich on Wednesday, with Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele’s third-minute strike in a 1-1 draw with Bayern that, after Harry Kane’s last-gasp reply that was ultimately in vain, sealed a 6-5 aggregate victory after last week’s nine-goal epic at the Parc des Princes which they won 5-4.

Arsenal had already booked their place in the final after Bukayo Saka’s late first-half goal saw them defeat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate following a tense and controversial 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital last week.

It will be only Arsenal’s second-ever appearance in the Champions League final and first since 2005/06, when they were edged out 2-1 by Barcelona in heartbreaking fashion at the Stade de France.

PSG’s first appearance in the final came back in 2019/20, when they lost 1-0 to Bayern in Lisbon courtesy of a second-half goal from Kingsley Coman.

Arsenal will hope to pull off a memorable trophy double this term after opening up a five-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League title race as they pursue a first domestic championship for 22 years, while defending champions PSG currently have a six-point advantage over nearest rivals Lens in Ligue 1 with three games remaining.

PSG, treble winners last term, have already won the Trophee des Champions, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup this season, though were stunned by rivals Paris FC in the last 32 of the Coupe de France.
