Gunners are through to the last eight with quadruple dream still alive
Arsenal have already discovered their opponents in the Champions League quarter-finals.
After topping the table in the league phase, winning all eight matches, Mikel Arteta’s side progressed straight through to the last 16 and avoided a two-legged knockout play-off tie.
Their reward was a showdown against Bayer Leverkusen after they overcame Olympiacos to reach the round of 16 thanks to a 2-0 aggregate play-off win.
Last week’s first leg in Germany ended all square after an 89th minute penalty from Kai Havertz - on his return to Leverkusen - cancelled out Robert Andrich’s opener early in the second half to preserve Arsenal’s unbeaten run in this season’s competition.
Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice both scored brilliant goals to win the second leg 2-0, sealing a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
Arsenal’s potential path to the Champions League final was mapped out when the knockout phase draw took place on February 27.
Placed on the more favourable blue path, the Gunners have avoided the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Real Madrid and holders Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal knew they would face either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting CP, with the latter becoming the first side to seal a place in this season’s Champions League quarter-final.
Bodo/Glimt beat Sporting 3-0 in the first leg as goals from Sondre Fet, Ole Didrik Blomberg and Kasper Hogh put the Norwegian side on the brink of continuing their amazing journey in this season’s competition.
However, the fairytale run came to an end as Sporting produced a stirring comeback in the second leg.
The Portuguese side levelled the aggregate score thanks to goals from Goncalo Inacio, Pedro Goncalves and Luis Javier Suarez, forcing extra time where Maximiliano Araujo and Rafael Nel put the tie out of reach.

Progression for Sporting means a first return to the Estadio Jose Alvalade for Viktor Gyokeres since his transfer last summer and the first leg will place on either April 7/8.
As a result of their top-two finish in the league phase, Arsenal will host the second leg at the Emirates Stadium a week later.
