Manchester United are searching for a new head coach after sacking Ruben Amorim.

Amorim has left the club after 14 months in the job, with United sixth in the Premier League table.

It follows comments in his press conference following the 1-1 draw with Leeds, in which Amorim stressed he wanted to be “the manager, not the coach”, amid tensions behind the scenes.

So who could replace the 40-year-old at the club? Here are the current favourites to take over…

Oliver Glasner

According to the Independent, United want to appoint current Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner as their next head coach.

The Austrian is out of contract with Palace at the end of this season, and United are said to be leaning towards making a permanent appointment in the summer.

Glasner won Palace their first ever major trophy by lifting the FA Cup last season, which secured European qualification too for the first time in their history.

Before that, he took charge of Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the Europa League in 2022.

Enzo Maresca

The former Chelsea boss, who departed the club last week after 18 months in charge, is currently among the favourites to get the job.

He took the Blues to the Club World Cup and Conference League titles last season, as well as securing Champions League qualification.

Darren Fletcher

The United under-18s coach and former midfielder is taking temporary charge of the first team following Amorim’s departure.

His son, Jack, recently made his first-team debut for the club.

Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel is set to lead England into the 2026 World Cup this summer, but his current contract expires after that, potentially freeing him up to take the United job.
