With the Brasileirão pausing after this weekend, Vasco have 10 players already over the Série A cap and 22 still within it. The transfer window opens the day after the World Cup, giving clubs a break to recruit and negotiate.
According to Globo.com, 10 players have already reached the threshold and cannot move within Série A this season. The team face Atlético-MG at 16:00 Brasília time on Sunday at São Januário in their final match before the break.
This year, with the league starting in January, the CBF changed the rule. A player may feature up to 12 times before switching to another Série A club, but after a 13th game he cannot sign elsewhere.
Léo Jardim, Robert Renan, Andrés Gómez, Thiago Mendes, Barros, David, Rojas, Nuno Moreira, Brenner and Lucas Piton have already made at least 13 appearances for Vasco. If Tchê Tchê plays against Atlético-MG, he will also cross the CBF limit.
A further 22 squad members remain under the cap and could join another Campeonato Brasileiro club in 2026 if they move in the next window. Regulars Paulo Henrique, Puma Rodríguez, Spinelli and Hugo Moura are on 11 and will reach the break still within the limit.
Marino Hinestroza has eight league outings. The Colombian has struggled to adapt and has yet to nail down a place. For now, the club have no intention of moving him on, though they recognise he has a market and could attract interest in Brazil and abroad.
