Jaden Heskey made his competitive senior debut on Wednesday evening, featuring as a substitute in City’s Carabao Cup clash with Huddersfield Town.

Pep Guardiola introduced the box-to-box midfielder in the second half with City leading 1-0 after a first half strike from Phil Foden.

Heskey featured alongside Phil Foden, James Trafford, Oscar Bobb, Nico O’Reilly, Divine Mukasa and Rico Lewis, all fellow Academy graduates or prospects.

It is a second involvement in the senior squad following Heskey’s inclusion in our United States pre-season tour in 2024.

The 19-year-old is a key figure for Ben Wilkinson’s Elite Development Squad this season, often wearing the captain’s armband in our Premier League 2 ties.

A mature, hard-working figure in any engine room, Heskey has developed his craft at City’s Academy since Under-9s.

In his younger years, Heskey often operated in City’s front line, but in recent years has taken on the responsibility of being a versatile player who can fill any gaps in the starting 11.

And that has seen him before, a leader in the heart of the Under-18s midfield in 2023/24 when he captained the side to FA Youth Cup glory.

In 2024/25, he made the step up to Premier League 2 football, where he totalled 19 appearances to help Ben Wilkinson’s side win the PL2 title.
