Neymar marked his World Cup call-up by sharing a video on Tuesday that showed him embracing two key members of his personal staff, physiotherapist Rafael Martini and fitness coach Ricardo Rosa.

After Carlo Ancelotti announced the Brazil squad, Neymar ran to hug Martini first, both visibly emotional, then turned to Rosa.

Martini and Rosa work directly for Neymar and are available to him daily, including on his trips for Santos matches in Brazil and abroad.

Neymar follows a tailored physical programme at home, training at alternative hours with the pair using facilities set up at his residence.

They supported him through serious injury spells, including a meniscus issue in his right knee late last year, when he chose to play while carrying the problem during the Brazilian league run-in.

At that time, a warlike plan was put in place so he could take the field with three layers of protection from groin to ankle, designed to stabilise and shield the knee and prevent the injury from worsening.

The duo have greater autonomy than Santos when it comes to decisions on the player’s condition.
