Who the heck is Luis Binks?

ToffeeWeb Rumour Mill Update

Unconfirmed reports emanating from northern Europe suggest Everton are keeping tabs on 25-year-old central defender Luis Binks — often mistakenly referred to in agent-driven whispers as “Lewis Binks” — currently captain of the Danish side Brøndby IF.

A product of Tottenham’s youth academy, Binks has had something of a nomadic career for a player in his mid-twenties. After departing Spurs in 2020 before making a senior appearance, he embarked on a globe-trotting tour:

Montreal Impact in MLS,
Bologna in Serie A,
loan spells at Como and Coventry City,
a permanent move to the Sky Blues,
and eventually a £2M transfer to Brøndby in the summer of 2025.

Left-footed and standing 6ft-2in, he has taken over the captain’s armband in Copenhagen and recently picked up a senior Scotland call-up, but sat out yesterday’s 0 – 0 draw in Slovenia on the bench.

If this link has any legs beyond an agent drumming up a pay rise or a fresh contract in Scandinavia, it ticks almost every classic “Rumour Mill” red flag:

1. The Nomadic Journeyman Red Flag… At 25, Binks is already on his sixth professional club across four different countries. While nomadic routes can build character, ToffeeWeb readers are bound to ask why a former Spurs prospect couldn’t establish himself firmly at Bologna or Coventry City in the Championship before heading to the Danish Superliga. Is he a late bloomer finally finding his feet, or simply settling at his natural level?
2. The “Spell the Name Right” Test… Half the tabloid outlets linking him to Everton or elsewhere can’t even spell his first name correctly (it’s Luis, not Lewis). When a transfer rumour starts with misspelt player names, it usually originates from a lazy aggregator or a back-page speculative filler piece rather than genuine interest from Finch Farm’s excellent scouting network.
3. The Left-Sided Centre-Back Obsession… Yes, he is left-footed and can play out from the back — a trait modern managers crave for balance. But do Everton actually need another mid-tier developmental centre-back to sit on the bench, or do we need proven Premier League quality? Trading Championship or Superliga pedigree for the demands of Premier League football is a gamble we’ve seen backfire far too often.
4. Agent Talk versus Genuine Scout Interest??? Binks was named Brøndby captain ahead of the 2026–27 campaign and has been turning in decent displays in Denmark. His representatives know his stock is currently at an all-time high, especially with a senior international nod. Linking an English-born player in Scandinavia back to a Premier League club is the oldest trick in the agent playbook to squeeze a contract extension out of his current board.

While Binks is enjoying a solid spell in Denmark and offers left-sided defensive coverage, this feels like classic meaningless transfer noises off while the transfer window is firmly closed, and will remain so for the coming months. Unless Everton’s scouting department has suddenly decided the Danish top flight is the premier hunting ground for defensive reinforcements, this should be filed away under Agent Mischief until proven otherwise.
