There are several changes expected in the FC Barcelona team as they face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at Signal Iduna Park.
In normal circumstances, any coach would be expected to play his strongest side for such a crucial game in the UCL. However, the Catalans enjoy a 4-goal advantage on aggregate from the first leg, a factor that will allow Hansi Flick to rest some of his regular starters.
Which of these starters will be rested is not yet known. Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo has highlighted one change that is already confirmed, i.e., the kits that Barcelona will don for this game.
The Spanish journal claims the Catalans will be wearing white shorts instead of their normal navy blue shorts with the Blaugrana jersey for this match. The reason for this change is to avoid any confusion as Dortmund players will be wearing black shorts.
Hansi Flick’s team wore its regular blue shorts when BVB faced them wearing their black and yellow kits with black shorts back in December. However, for this upcoming match, the Catalans will once again wear the historical white shorts that the Catalan team wore in their first few years after the club’s establishment back in 1899.
This season, the Blaugranes have already played wearing white shorts once, in the match against Las Palmas on 30th November, a day after the Catalan club’s 125th anniversary.
The women’s team also wore white shorts in their UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City, which ended 2-0 in the English team’s favour.
The match against Las Palmas also ended 2-1 in the Canarian team’s favour, and thus, there is reason to doubt that these white shorts do not bring a lot of good luck for Barcelona. Hopefully, this trend will be reversed tonight, and the Blaugranes will be able to get a win wearing these historical shorts.
