An explanation for the impending absence of Barcelona star Pedri from the Ballon d’Or ceremony has been forthcoming online.

The latest ‘Golden Ball’ ceremony is of course set to take place this coming week.

On Monday evening, the headline names from across the world of football will come together for a night of glitz and glamour in Paris, France.

The aforementioned Barcelona will send a high-profile contingent to the ceremony, featuring the likes of Hansi Flick, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

Set to sit out the gala, despite his Ballon d’Or nomination, though, is Blaugrana midfielder Pedri.

And as alluded to above, on Saturday evening, an explanation as to why has been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who have confirmed that:

‘The Canary Islander made the decision not to travel to Paris, agreed with the club, to prioritise rest and taking into account that he does not aim to be one of the protagonists of the night.’
