Why Barra v Corinthians will be played at the Ressacada | OneFootball

Barra will stage their Copa do Brasil fifth-phase home tie against Corinthians at the Ressacada in Florianópolis because their own stadium does not meet capacity rules.

According to Globo.com, from the fifth phase the CBF requires fixtures in venues holding more than 10,000, and Arena Barra FC accommodates 5,500.

Barra have agreed with Avaí to use the Ressacada for the first leg on 21 April at 21:30 Brasília time.

The return meeting is scheduled for 14 May at Neo Química Arena at 19:30.

Couto Pereira, Coritiba’s stadium, had also been considered by Barra.

Athletic face the same situation and will host Internacional at Orlando Scarpelli, also in Florianópolis.

Barra reached the fifth phase by beating Volta Redonda on penalties in Rio de Janeiro after a 0-0 draw, having previously eliminated América-MG in the third phase at Arena Barra FC, again on penalties following another goalless game.

Corinthians, the current Copa do Brasil champions, now enter the competition.
