It was a quiet deadline day for Liverpool, with a raft of loan deals stealing the headlines. Most notably, Jayden Danns secured a crucial loan move to Sunderland, who are battling for promotion to the Premier League themselves.
The Black Cats beat the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Stoke City in the race to land the 19-year-old until the end of the season.
Whilst game time would’ve been considerably more at the other clubs linked, we’re going to explain why a move to Sunderland is perfect for Danns. That is with the help of ‘the72’ writer, contributor and Sunderland supporter, Adam Scorer...

“He will be in safe hands on Wearside,” began Scorer, “We have a really positive reputation in growing young talents, especially over recent years with the likes of Chris Rigg, Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson making huge strides.”
Liverpool themselves have been linked with a few Sunderland youngsters, mostly with Rigg, but also midfielder Dan Neil and goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
You can look even further than those names, with the Black Cats reigniting the careers of the likes of Romaine Mundle, Dennis Cirkin and Daniel Ballard, all after leaving ‘big six’ Premier League clubs.
“Initially, Danns would be expected to play a part from the bench,” continued Scorer, “Current striker Wilson Isidor is in fine form at the moment and has quickly become a fan-favourite since his summer move from Zenit.”
“However, Danns can definitely make an impact from the bench with Sunderland often lacking a new dimension late on in games,” said Scorer, “Of course, it’s in his hands to perform and fight for that starting spot.”

It is also important to note that Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris has often tried to play with two forwards, so we could perhaps even see Danns link up with Isidor in a front two.
One thing that Danns won’t be lacking is service, with Sunderland holding a number of the league’s most creative players like Mundle, Rigg, Patrick Roberts and exciting new signing Enzo Le Fee.
“We’re all excited to have Danns at the club and it looks to be a really positive move for all parties involved,” continued Scorer, “One thing for certain is that he would become a hero on Wearside if he was to help us secure promotion back to the Premier League!”
Le Bris’ side currently sit just three points off the automatic promotion spots in the EFL Championship, with one game in hand.
Danns does unfortunately face a few weeks on the sidelines through a back injury, but I’m sure the teenager will be raring to go on Wearside and prove his worth. This opportunity to go to such a huge club, with a brilliant track record of developing youngsters, is a big one for Danns and perhaps his alternating squad role eases some of the pressure on him, for his first real spell in senior football.
