Santos remain relaxed over Neymar despite him missing two on-field sessions under Juan Pablo Vojvoda, and, at this stage, his availability for the Brasileiro return is not a concern. According to Globo.com, the absence is being managed rather than caused by a setback.
Santos have not played since 22 February, when Novorizontino eliminated them in the Paulistão quarter-finals. The break has been used to prioritise the forward’s conditioning.
Showing muscle fatigue, he skipped ball work on Thursday and Friday to lower injury risk that could slow his progress and harm his 2026 World Cup aim. Any muscle issue could hinder or even end his chances, depending on severity.
Before the 16 March call-up, he could face Mirassol on Tuesday and then Corinthians next weekend. Others also managed workloads, with Mayke only warming up before indoor maintenance at CT Rei Pelé on Friday.
The plan has him training on Saturday and joining Vojvoda’s tactical work for the trip to the interior of São Paulo. If there are no issues or renewed fatigue, the schedule repeats on Sunday and Monday before travelling to Mirassol.
With few opportunities before the World Cup, he wants to build rhythm and competitiveness. Travelling to Mirassol remains in the plan despite two missed days, and Santos may repeat this caution in a demanding 2026.
