Real Madrid’s attempts to sign Michael Olise were deliberately very public – the Spanish side wanted to show they were doing all they could to sign one of the world’s best. When they were turned down by Bayern Munich, it felt like the story was over for the summer.

But it’s left some in Paris wondering why PSG didn’t make a big offer for the French star. A piece in L’Equipe explains with reference to a source that the club want to sign “the next Michael Olise,” not the current Michael Olise.

One player they think is on that path is Maghnes Akliouche, mentioned in the same article. That deal is “in its final stages,” with a “three way desire to complete the deal quickly.”

They don’t want to upset the superb attacking chemistry they’ve already got, and they certainly don’t want to pay the insane sums of money that Bayern Munich are going to ask for for Olise. Internally, such an attempt was described as a “nightmare.”
