Southampton are set to face Arsenal in their FA Cup quarter-final, and the Saints could land a seven-figure jackpot if things go their way.

Southampton booked their spot in the quarter-final of the FA Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Premier League side, Fulham, at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Southampton managed to stay in the game against Fulham, but took the chance that came their way, as Ross Stewart netted a stoppage-time penalty to send the travelling supporters into a frenzy.

The Saints have shown that they can soak up pressure and still win matches. They only had 32% possession, as well as only having five shots to Fulham's 24 in their recent FA Cup win over the Premier League side on Sunday afternoon.

They've now been rewarded for their efforts with a match against Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the competition, in what promises to be a tricky test for Tonda Eckert's men, where that steely nature will be tested again.

The Gunners have been the team to beat for much of the 2025/26 season, and remain on course to end a lengthy spell without a Premier League title.

Potential Southampton jackpot revealed

Southampton could land themselves a minimum £1,007,000 jackpot if they're to see off the almighty challenge of Arsenal in their FA Cup quarter-final clash in April, as per a report from the Daily Mail.

That's due to the winner of a quarter-final tie in the FA Cup receiving £477,000, with the other £530,000 coming as a guarantee for just reaching the semi-finals at Wembley. The FA's official website note any semi-final winner would receive £1,060,000, with the loser guaranteed half of that.

In addition to that, Southampton will benefit from the money raised from gate receipts, which are split between the two contesting clubs, meaning the Saints should be coming away with well over £1m if they manage to see off Arsenal.

Of course, it sounds a simple task for the Saints, but it's anything but that, especially when Arsenal are in such good form this season. The Gunners are still competing in all the competitions available to them, which includes the Champions League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup, as well as being the league-leaders in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta's side booked their spot in the quarter-final with a 2-1 win over League One side, Mansfield Town, where they were made to work hard to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.

History doesn't bode too well for Southampton

Southampton will be well-aware of the threat posed to them by Arsenal, with the Saints being winless from their last four matches against the Premier League giants.

They were beaten 2-1 and 3-1 in their respective Premier League matches against the Gunners last season, in what was a season to forget for Southampton in the top-flight, as they were relegated into the Championship.

Southampton haven't made it past the quarter-final stage in the FA Cup since the 2020/21 season, where they were eventually beaten by Leicester City, who went on to win the competition that year.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last seven league matches, and will be confident of continuing their good run of form into the FA Cup, which is a competition they last won in the 2019/20 season.
