Tiago Santos was left out of Lille’s squad for the 1-0 win at Monaco on Sunday. According to L'Équipe, the right-back’s omission was not injury related but followed concerns over his attitude in recent weeks.

Having played about 20 minutes across the previous five matchdays, the 23-year-old was dropped for the trip to the Principality.

Bruno Genesio said it was a selection choice based on what he sees in training, made in good faith, and accepted that such calls can be right or wrong.

Santos has struggled to recapture his level this season after a long lay-off with a serious knee injury. With the club united in the run-in to secure a podium that seemed unimaginable a few months ago, he has been spoken to several times recently over his conduct. He is under contract until 2029.

He could again be left out for the crucial meeting with AJA next Sunday at 21:00, the 34th and final matchday.
