The two-time promotion-winner is the latest star to be added to Paul Warne's MK super team.

With the likes of Aaron Collins and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing already on board, anything less than promotion for the Dons would be an absolute travesty. Not winning the title may be considered a disappointing season at this rate.

Collar was in talks with Stockport over a new deal following the end of their attempt to go up to the Championship via the play-offs in their first season in League One. The midfielder had said that he wanted to stay with the Hatters, but, when his departure was announced, the club's CEO, Simon Wilson revealed Collar's reasons for leaving were family-oriented and that he was "in demand."

Will Collar reveals why he chose to sign with MK Dons

Football League World revealed that a contract offer had been sent to the 27-year-old by MK. Now that his move to Milton Keynes is official, he has added his own take on why he chose to walk away from Stockport and back down to the fourth tier.

He said, on MK's official website: "I'm really happy that it's finally sorted. It has been in the works for a while!

"I'm an attacking midfielder, I like to score goals, I like to create goals, and I'll work hard for the team!

"When I spoke to the manager, he outlined the project. It's got a lot of potential! We want to win lots of games and I'm looking forward to a challenging season.

"If you look at the owners and the players they've recruited in the last few weeks, it's just really exciting!"

MK Dons are building a super-team

His new boss was very gushing about his latest acquisition. "Players like Will are hard to come by at this level," said Warne.

"He's obviously a fantastic footballer as I think anyone at Stockport County will tell you, but he's also a strong character and has the chance to be a real leader for us in midfield."

The former Derby County and Rotherham United manager's pleasure with getting this deal over the line isn't overstating anything either. This is certainly a good League One player that has come down to the division below to try and help MK finally win promotion back to League One.

Collar, a centre-mid, scored eight league goals for County last time out. MK's top scorer across the whole campaign - Alex Gilbey

- only found the back of the net three more times than their latest acquisition did.
