Wolves' trip to Maidenhead United on Wednesday night doubles as Cesar Peixoto's first match in English football and a landmark friendly for the non-league hosts.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the visit traces back to Max Kilman's move two years ago. West Ham signed the defender for £30 million, triggering Maidenhead's sell-on from his 2018 £30,000 switch to Wolves.

The National League South side were initially due 20 per cent of the profit, then waived half to help the transfer proceed. In return, Wolves committed to play at York Road, a pledge now being honoured.

Maidenhead are understood to have received around £4m, still the largest sell-on fee banked by a non-league club. The money has underpinned plans, securing the near-term future while the club explores a ground move.

Formed in 1870, Maidenhead were among 15 entrants to the first FA Cup. York Road, opened in 1871, is regarded as the oldest senior ground used continuously by one club. Talks over a new home reflect the need to modernise and aim higher.

Wednesday should also swell the coffers, with more than 2,000 expected, including about 1,000 travelling Wolves fans. That would exceed a typical league gate, and adult tickets are £34. The club has thanked Wolves for making the arrangement straightforward.
