Grêmio are reshaping their squad, with Willian told he is no longer in this season’s plans and several underused players potentially leaving.

According to Globo.com, right back João Pedro is discussing his future with the board after asking whether the club intend to release him. Under contract until 2027, he has not featured for Luís Castro since a left thigh injury in February, with Diego Caito now ahead.

Castro has often improvised with Pavon at right back, with 37-year-old Marcos Rocha as cover. Rocha’s deal runs only to year end and he is not expected to renew, though he remains a dressing-room leader.

Centre back Wagner Leonardo was close to leaving as talks with Vitória stalled. It signals Grêmio are open to offers while they search for a left-sided option in defence.

So far, Arthur has left after no agreement with Juventus, André Henrique has been sold to Goztepe in Türkiye, and defender Viery has joined Fiorentina. Arrivals include Wallace, Diego Caito, Matheus Nascimento, Jovane Cabral and Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic, who has yet to arrive.

Left back Caio Paulista, on loan from Palmeiras, has dropped to third choice after Marlon’s return and will not remain for 2027. Grêmio are listening to offers for Monsalve, who has interest from Estudiantes and could go despite a deal to December 2028.

Midfielder Gabriel Mec is also in line to go as the club seek funds. A 12 million euros bid from Shakhtar Donetsk was accepted but rejected by his camp, and an alternative move this window is being explored. He favours a switch to a major European league.

In defence, Wallace, 21, joins Gustavo Martins, Balbuena and Luis Eduardo on the right side, with the Paraguayan the least used and out of squads since the World Cup. Elsewhere, Arezo has joined Peñarol, Adriel has moved to Torrense in Portugal with rights retained, and Cristian Olivera, on loan at Bahia, may be sold to Nacional.
