In the first pre-season friendly under new coach Danny Röhl, our team secured a comfortable 5-0 victory against SV Seekirchen. Our goals were scored by Karim Konate (x2), Damir Redzic, Aboubacar Camara and Yorbe Vertessen.
Our lads started their first friendly after the summer break at a brisk pace in the high temperatures. Karim Konate opened the scoring in the 11th minute after a fine combination with Eddie Baidoo. Several other promising attacks lacked the final touch – until the 35th minute, when Konate again converted a Kitano pass to make it 2-0. Just three minutes later, Damir Redzic finished off a fine solo run to add another goal.
Eleven fresh players started the second half with renewed energy. Aboubacar Camara scored again in the 48th minute after a beautiful cross from Enrique Aguilar, making it 4-0. Following further great scoring chances, Yorbe Vertessen made it 5-0 in the 70th minute, tapping in a pass from Lainer. We therefore secured a comfortable and well-deserved victory in our first pre-season friendly, in which lots of players saw action and were able to impress.

We’ve done a huge amount of work over the first two weeks of training. That showed towards the end today, partly due to the high temperatures. Overall, though, I’m satisfied with the match, and we’re currently where I want us to be. I saw some good things, and now we need to build on that. We kept a clean sheet and scored five goals that were well-worked. There are always areas for improvement in every game.

For me, the first two weeks have been excellent so far. We’ve trained really well, worked a lot on tactics and learned a great deal as a team. I think we put that into practice very well today. We won 5–0, which is a solid result, and we were able to translate a lot of our training work into the match. The coach got to see quite a bit of what we’ve been practicing recently. This was just the very first test though.
