Winks: Leicester City midfielder on the verge of joining Cagliari | OneFootball

Multiple reports in Italy claim that Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks will return to Serie A, joining Cagliari for the 2026-27 season.

English midfielder Winks, 30, is set to join Serie A side Cagliari on a permanent deal from Leicester City.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio claims the two clubs have already reached an agreement, while Alfredo Pedullà, who first broke the news of negotiations two weeks ago, says the Sardinians are getting close to an agreement with the Foxes.

Cagliari have identified Winks as the replacement for Gianluca Gaetano, who was announced as a new Atalanta player earlier this week.

Winks already played in Serie A during the 2022-23 season, making 20 appearances for Sampdoria. The Englishman, a former Tottenham midfielder, has scored two goals in 150 Premier League appearances.

He’s been playing for Leicester City since 2023, but the Foxes were relegated to the English League One last season.

Cagliari, on the other hand, secured Serie A survival with one game to spare in 2025-26.
