Chelsea have been drawn against Manchester City in the Women’s Champions League, meaning the clubs will face each other four times in March.

The Blues face City on the 15th March in the Subway Cup final, then on the 18/19th in the UWCL, again on the 23rd in the WSL and finally again on the 26/27th for the second-leg of the UWCL.

Sonia Bompastor said: “I’m used to playing the same team often. In France we had that between Lyon and PSG. Last season we played them seven times. Almost every week at the end of the season.

“We will face them (City) in different competitions and it will be different games. When you have to face an English team (in UWCL) you wish you could have a different opponent because you always play them but that is the draw.”

Bompastor, despite only joining Chelsea in the summer, has already picked up three manager of the month awards in the WSL and she was keen to reiterate the importance of the group, not just her.

“I always make sure every day I work really hard,” she said. “I want to thank the players and my staff because they have been doing a really great job.

“I am the one who comes in the light but everything comes because we are working really hard as a staff, as a team with the players. We have the right mentality. When that’s the case and you get good results, you are rewarded.”

Key players Lucy Bronze and Sandy Baltimore were not in the squad through injury against West Ham in the League Cup on Wednesday, and Bompastor said it is uncertain as to their availability this weekend against Everton.

“We still have Sandy and Lucy [as doubts], I don’t think Lucy will be involved on Sunday but we have a chance to have Sandy back with us.”
