For Gabriel Milito, the message is clear: despite tonight’s adverse result against Tigres, the team still believes it can turn the series around and advance to the Semifinals.
After the first leg of the Quarterfinals, in which Chivas fell to Tigres, Guadalajara’s manager spoke in a press conference, where he analyzed the details of the match, acknowledged the team’s areas for improvement, and reaffirmed his full confidence in his players ahead of the second leg, scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at Estadio AKRON, where he believes the team can get the result needed to stay alive in the Liguilla.
He also encouraged the Nación Rojiblanca to keep believing and continue supporting the team.
Milito’s best quotes from the press conference:
— “With faith, belief, and the support of our fans, we can turn things around.”
— “I believe we can improve in the second leg. We know we’ll need a huge effort and a very strong performance to get the win. It’s possible, and I trust the players we have.”
— “It’s the first match. We have the second leg at home, and we have the belief that we can play a great game.”
— “We have to try to play the way we usually do at home, the way we’ve played throughout the entire season.”
— “We took the lead in the match and tried to control the game from a more patient position, also because Tigres has very strong individual talent and is very dangerous in space.”
— “The feeling is that we could have done better… in the goals we conceded, we could have been more accurate, we could have handled those situations better.”
— “We knew from the beginning of the season that this could happen (players being called up to the Mexican National Team). I’ll focus my energy on preparing the team for the second leg.”
