Without playing, Grêmio drop into Brasileirão relegation zone | OneFootball

Grêmio have fallen into the Brasileirão relegation zone without playing in the 21st round, with results pushing them to 17th place, according to Globo.com.

Mirassol beat Remo 3-1 on Wednesday night to reach 23 points. Inter drew with Flamengo at Beira-Rio and moved above their rivals. Had Inter not taken a point, they would have been inside the bottom four.

The standings now read Mirassol 14th on 23, Santos 15th on 22, Inter 16th on 22, Grêmio 17th on 22. Vasco and Remo each have 21 points, Chapecoense have 10.

The situation will hold at least until the next round. The Brasileirão resumes on 8 and 9 August, when Grêmio host São Paulo at the Arena.

The dates of 1 and 2 August and midweek are reserved for the Copa do Brasil, where Grêmio face Mirassol in the last 16. The Botafogo match was postponed because Grêmio play Bolívar on Thursday in the Sudamericana play-off and it is yet to be rescheduled.
