Wolfsburg confirm Rexhbecaj return | OneFootball

After four years at FC Augsburg, Elvis Rexhbecaj will return to VfL Wolfsburg as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

Die Wölfe confirmed on Wednesday that the 28-year-old midfielder has signed a contract until 2030.

“With Elvis, we are bringing back a player who has a close connection to VfL Wolfsburg and the city. The fact that he has committed to VfL during this sportingly challenging phase makes us all the more pleased,” said sporting director Pirmin Schwegler.

“In addition to his footballing qualities, he is defined by a strong personality that is felt both on and off the pitch. He gives everything in every match and takes responsibility. We are convinced that Elvis will benefit the team with these qualities and are very much looking forward to his return in the summer.”

Rexhbecaj came through Wolfsburg’s youth academy and made 32 appearances for the club before leaving in 2022. He commented:

“Returning to Wolfsburg will be something very special for me. I grew up here and started my Bundesliga career at VfL. I will always be grateful for that. So when the door opened again here, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to do it. But one thing is also clear: until the final matchday, I will give everything for FC Augsburg.”
