Wolfsburg ‘interested’ in Niclas Füllkrug once more | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that Wolfsburg are again interested in Niclas Füllkrug, raising the prospect of a Bundesliga return. The 33-year-old is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Milan will not exercise their €5 million purchase option, so he will initially return to West Ham United in summer.

However, he no longer has a realistic future at the London club. With West Ham currently two points clear of the relegation places, he would face a 50 percent pay cut if they are relegated.

Uncertainty also surrounds Wolfsburg’s viability as an option, even if they avoid Bundesliga relegation. The Lower Saxony side were regarded as favourites to land him in early December, before Milan’s interest.

Several questions remain before any return to Germany could become a concrete possibility. At one stage, it is believed he even considered rejoining Werder Bremen.
