Woltemade admits strikers have to score goals | OneFootball

Nick Woltemade made a fine impression on his first start for Juventus against NEC, with the German leading the line well and ending the evening with a goal from the penalty spot.

Woltemade gives Juve something different from what they get from Randal Kolo Muani, which is one of the reasons they added him to their squad after signing the Frenchman. The German now has an opportunity to establish himself as an important player.

He is expected to become one of their best performers during this campaign before his loan spell elapses, and Woltemade understands the importance of putting the ball in the back of the net.

Woltemade Makes His Mark

Even without his goal, Woltemade delivered a fine performance for Juventus against NEC. However, he is a striker for a reason, and it makes little sense for the players around him to benefit from his contribution while he fails to find the back of the net himself.

His ability to lead the line effectively was encouraging for Juventus, while his goal gave him the reward that every striker wants. The performance therefore provided plenty of positives for the German on an important evening for the Bianconeri.

Woltemade will now want to build on this display and continue showing Juventus why they brought him into the squad. Regular contributions in front of goal could become particularly important as the campaign continues.

Woltemade Happy With His Display

Speaking about his game against the Dutch side, Woltemade was pleased with his overall performance. However, he also admitted that scoring was particularly important because he is the striker in the team.

The Newcastle United loanee said via Sky Sports:

“It was a great evening, especially for the result, and I’m also happy with my first goal here because you can play as well as you want, but for a striker, a goal is the most important thing, and I thank Nico Gonzalez for saving me the penalty.”

His first start has therefore given him an encouraging platform. Juventus will hope Woltemade can continue to deliver strong performances and add more goals as he looks to make his mark during his time with the club.
