According to Sky Germany, Nick Woltemade and Kai Havertz are guaranteed places in Germany’s squad travelling to the US for the 2026 World Cup if fit, while Deniz Undav still needs to convince Julian Nagelsmann.
It is believed Nagelsmann has recently phoned Woltemade to express full confidence despite the striker’s rough patch at Newcastle United.
Havertz is also a favourite of the national coach, and his ability to operate up front or as a number 10 offers tactical flexibility.
Undav, enjoying the best season of his career at VfB Stuttgart, still has to prove himself to make the squad. His role with Germany is less defined than at the Baden-Württemberg club, with the national team’s approach differing markedly.
The head coach is also weighing Niclas Füllkrug or Tim Kleindienst, with a traditional aerial threat considered valuable late in games. Füllkrug’s edge is his major-tournament experience. Kleindienst is sidelined after knee surgery but retains World Cup hopes, and Nagelsmann has recently spoken to both.
