Wolves are on the brink of returning to the Championship, 14 years after their previous Premier League relegation. Here is what became of the 2011/12 squad.
That season’s drop was confirmed before the final day, which ended in a 3-2 defeat at Wigan after Matt Jarvis had raised brief hope. According to ExpressAndStar.com, here is where the class of 2012 ended up.
Carl Ikeme later retired after entering complete remission from leukaemia in 2018, then took up Brazilian jiu-jitsu, winning the British Open and an IBJJF European Championship bronze.
At the back, Christophe Berra left after the League One relegation and now manages Huntsville City in MLS Next Pro. Richard Stearman played over 230 games, later coaching at Swansea City. Stephen Ward moved into off-field roles before heading to Dubai Irish.
In midfield, Dave Edwards returned to Shrewsbury Town as a first-team coach after a stint with Sky Sports. Karl Henry, who made 272 appearances, now manages Boldmere St Michaels’ women’s side. Nenad Milijas had later spells in Türkiye and China, then coached with Red Star and Serbia under-21s. Anthony Forde is with Altrincham.
Stephen Hunt moved into agency work with Stephen Hunt Management. Kevin Doyle finished with three seasons at Colorado Rapids and now coaches in Ireland while breeding race horses. Steven Fletcher left for Sunderland and later helped Wrexham up before retiring.
Roger Johnson moved into coaching at Brackley, while George Elokobi manages Maidstone and led them to the FA Cup last 16.
