According to Substack, Premier League clubs and teams abroad have made genuine enquiries for Gomes, while Andre is wanted by Juventus among others, and with Wolves short of leverage that figure may be the extent of any return.

It has been a dreadful season at Molineux. After a summer that left the squad weaker, Wolves have taken just two points from their first 17 league games and are 16 points adrift of safety, so relegation after eight years in the Premier League now looks likely.

Andre and Gomes are widely regarded as two of the club’s best players. They have combined well in the past, but both have struggled this term, and supporters argue the pair are too similar with limited creativity.

Transfer speculation has intensified. Galatasaray have been linked with Andre, and Gomes was heavily touted for Manchester United, although that talk has cooled.

Selling either seemed unthinkable only weeks ago. With the team so far adrift, it now feels as though at least one could leave in January.

The situation appears too far gone for Wolves, so a rebuild ahead of Championship football next season should commence now. Such a fee would provide a sizeable boost to that process.
