Wolves expected to sell at least one left-back this summer

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves are expected to sell at least one left-back this summer as plans for recruitment take shape.

Hugo Bueno and David Moller Wolfe shared the role last season, with Bueno often preferred when a back five with wing-backs was used. Cesar Peixoto has typically favoured 4-2-3-1 in his career, and both fit as orthodox left-backs in that system. Keeping both is considered unlikely, with each player keen for regular minutes.

Bueno is attracting interest, with Newcastle long-time admirers and Fiorentina the latest to explore the option. There has been no formal approach from Fiorentina so far and no talks with Wolves, with any early interest coming via intermediaries. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle move, and several clubs are considering Bueno this summer.

The academy graduate made 38 appearances last season, including 35 in the Premier League. He was consistent despite Wolves finishing 20th and being relegated.

Wolfe arrived last summer in a £10 million deal but did not dislodge Bueno, starting 11 Premier League games. Roma made a low January offer that was swiftly rejected, and a deadline-day bid of about £14 million from Nottingham Forest was also turned down.

The 24-year-old is currently with Norway at the World Cup, starting their first two group matches and recording one assist as they reached the round of 32. He is expected to attract interest in this window, and Wolves plan to strengthen at left-back for next season.
