Wolves are keen on Aston Villa's Lewis Dobbin, and his attributes could be exactly what Cesar Peixoto needs in his squad.
Wolves have already made two big moves in the transfer market, with Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez joining the club.
They are statement signings for Wanderers, and the duo are likely to play key roles as Cesar Peixoto looks to lead the Black Country outfit back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Even with Trippier and Jimenez in the ranks, it’s clear that Wolves still need a lot of work to do in the market, and several departures are on the cards.

There will be different views on where Wolves should prioritise, but their goal record last season shows that they are lacking so much in the final third, even when you take into account dropping to the Championship and the arrival of Jimenez.
Therefore, links to Lewis Dobbin should please Wolves fans, with the forward expected to leave Aston Villa in the summer window for a fee of up to £10m.
Even though he is contracted to Villa, Dobbin has spent the past few years out on loan, and stints with West Brom and Norwich were underwhelming for different reasons.
So, when the 23-year-old joined Preston for the 2025/26 campaign, it was a big moment in Dobbin’s career, and he took the opportunity at Deepdale with both hands.
North End may have recorded a mid-table finish, but Dobbin was among the most productive players in the Championship, scoring ten goals and registering eight assists.
Peixoto’s appointment may mean Wolves lean on Jorge Mendes for transfers, but there needs to be a balance, and Dobbin’s performances at this level suggest he could hit the ground running at Molineux, and that EFL experience could be vital.
More importantly, though, Dobbin has qualities that Wolves are desperately lacking with his pace, movement and willingness to run in behind.
A major issue last season was the balance of the attack, not just a lack of quality. For some reason, Wolves had failed to recruit forwards who could carry the ball, or players with blistering pace.

That can’t have helped the likes of Tolu Arokodare and Jhon Arias, who both struggled to settle, along with other players in the squad.
It was a basic failing of the recruitment team, with Domenico Teti and Vitor Pereira believed to have been leading the signings made last year, and it’s something the club must address in this window.
The emergence of Mateus Mane has added a much-needed spark and unpredictability to Wolves’ attack, and he is capable of carrying the ball.
However, Jimenez will need pace around him, and so will Fer Lopez. The Spaniard could become key to Peixoto’s side as a number ten, but he lacks speed. That leaves Rodrigo Gomes as the only attacker with real pace, which isn’t enough.
In Dobbin, Wolves would be getting someone who can change that, and the fact he could play in several roles for Peixoto’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation is an added bonus.
On paper, some Wolves fans may not be too excited about the prospect of Dobbin joining, as he has only had one good season in his career so far.
Yet, as the Old Gold found out to their cost last season, a successful team needs players with different attributes, and Dobbin would bring something different to this Wolves squad.
With the likes of Jimenez, Lopez, Mane and Adam Armstrong, Peixoto has some very good players at his disposal, and Dobbin would provide Wolves with another dimension in attack, which will be vital if they are to win promotion back to the Premier League.
