Wolves on course to seal £7.7m Rafiki Said signing | OneFootball

Wolves are on course to seal the £7.7 million signing of winger Rafiki Said within 24 hours.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 26-year-old arrived at Compton Park on Friday for a medical after a fee was agreed with Standard Liege. Subject to any late issues, he would be the club’s third signing of the summer and join in time for next week’s training camp in Portugal.

The Comoros international moved to Liege last year, scoring eight in 38 matches. He had previously spent his career in France after progressing through Brest’s academy.

Said debuted in the French top flight with Brest, then spent three seasons in the Second Division with Nimes and later Troyes.

Wolves prioritised experience early in the window, adding Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, while they believe Said has the attributes to adapt to the English game.

He would be the first addition since Cesar Peixoto was appointed head coach last month, the Portuguese replacing Rob Edwards after the Trippier and Jimenez deals were completed.

Trippier met Peixoto for the first time this week as those not involved at the World Cup returned for pre-season. Jimenez and others are being given extra time off following their exploits in America. Wolves travel to Portugal next week before visiting non-league Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22.
