Wolves prospect Leon Chiwome joins Colchester on season-long loan | OneFootball

Wolves striker Leon Chiwome has joined Colchester United on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old entered Wolves’ academy four years ago and earned a senior chance, debuting in the FA Cup in 2024 before three Premier League appearances. Wolves technical director Matt Jackson said the move is about getting him back to top fitness and performance after a tough couple of years.

Chiwome suffered a serious knee injury soon after that breakthrough. He trained with Cesar Peixoto’s first-team group in pre-season, and now links up with the League Two side.

Jackson recalled the excitement when recruitment spotted him at Wimbledon, citing power, pace and a profile that needs nurturing. He added that, at his best, he could be a real asset for the club.

He also praised Chiwome’s level-headed, well educated background and constant motivation through injury. Jackson expressed confidence in Colchester and the Cowley brothers’ project, adding that strong game exposure there could help the forward return to his earlier trajectory.
