Wolves plan to keep Pedro Lima in their Championship squad despite Brazilian interest. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Atletico Mineiro want the 19-year-old on a season-long loan with an option to buy, but Wolves see him competing with new right-back Kieran Trippier, so any approach is likely to be rebuffed.

Lima has made 16 appearances since a move worth around £8.5 million from Sport Recife two years ago. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Porto without a first-team game.

New head coach Cesar Peixoto will assess the squad in pre-season as he targets a swift Premier League return. After Trippier’s arrival, right-back is not viewed as a priority.

A significant overhaul is expected, with a new No.1 goalkeeper near the top of the agenda. Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone are both likely to leave.

Trabzonspor are the latest club credited with interest in Sa, though his future is unlikely to be decided until after the World Cup.

Wolves’ friendly with Real Sociedad at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium has been moved to Saturday, July 25 at 5pm from Tuesday, July 28.

Villa had been due to face Sociedad at the venue on that date, but the fixtures have switched following changes to the Premier League club’s Asia tour.

Pre-season is due to start at Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22 at 7.30pm, then at SC Heerenveen on Saturday, August 1 at 3pm, a week before the Carabao Cup first round.
