Wolves striker responds to claims he cancelled training with on-pitch protest | OneFootball

Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has hit out at “inaccurate” reports that he forced training to be cancelled by refusing to leave the pitch.

It was suggested that Arokodare had sat down at the club’s training ground on Monday and demanded that they let him move to Fiorentina.

Arokodare was left out of Wednesday’s friendly against Maidenhead United by new manager Cesar Peixoto, with Wolves reported to have accepted an offer from Trabzonspor in Turkey – but rejected a possible deal with Fiorentina.

Arokodare signed for £24m from Genk last summer and scored three times in his first campaign as Wolves were relegated from the Premier League.

"I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which were inaccurate,” Arokodare posted on social media. “Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.

"My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my team-mates and the club whenever I am called upon.

"I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract."

The strike was previously disciplined by the club in April following a confrontation with young forward Mateus Mane.

Wolves begin their Championship campaign against Blackburn on Friday 14 August.
