According to The Telegraph, Wolves are admirers of Rennes midfielder Jordan James, a player previously on Julen Lopetegui’s radar. The club could face competition from sides in the top division.

Relegation to the Championship had long loomed, yet there is optimism about a reset this summer. Andre’s new contract and an agreement to sign Kieran Trippier have lifted the mood.

With Joao Gomes set to leave, a new midfield partner for Andre may be required. James has returned to parent club Rennes after a loan at Leicester City.

Leicester endured a disastrous campaign, suffering relegation to League One. James still swept their awards, taking the club’s player, players’ player and young player honours, and he was also the Championship’s young player of the season.

Wolves were linked in summer 2023 when Lopetegui was head coach and Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho were departing, with James impressing at Birmingham City. Everton and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested, but no move materialised and Lopetegui later left frustrated by recruitment.
