Wolves winger Rafiki Said suffers MCL knee injury | OneFootball

Wolves winger Rafiki Said will be sidelined for at least two months after sustaining a knee injury in pre-season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the £7.7million signing was taken off 20 minutes into his second friendly at Maidenhead earlier this month and is set to miss the start of the season.

He suffered a high-grade injury to his medial collateral ligament after a shot was blocked, placing significant stress on the inside of his knee. The winger will wear a brace for about six weeks and receive injections during that period to aid healing.

During those weeks he will be limited functionally, focusing on gym work and strengthening the muscles around the joint. Once the brace is removed, a further few weeks are likely before he can resume training.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde faces a number of weeks out after a hamstring issue in training. The midfielder returned last week following World Cup duty with Haiti and felt the problem during a weekend session.

Fer Lopez, who missed the Maidenhead and Real Sociedad friendlies with a minor groin problem, has trained this week and will be available for the final two friendlies of the summer. Adam Armstrong should also continue to be available after a recent calf knock.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has increased his workload as he recovers from shoulder surgery undergone towards the end of last season.
