Juventus Women’s internationals were back in action on Tuesday, 3 June, with the UEFA Women’s Nations League continuing. It was a night to remember for some of our Bianconere, so let’s take a look at how they fared.
The Azzurre got the job done in Wales with a comprehensive 4-1 win, and the Bianconere in action shone from the start.
Cristiana Girelli got two goals for herself, and Sofia Cantore was on the scoresheet as well. Curiously, each of the three goals scored by our Bianconere were headers, and they all came in the first half as Italy raced into a 4-0 lead.
The result means Italy finish second in League A, and will not face a relegation playoff.
France and Pauline Peyraud-Magnin beat Iceland 2-0, ending their UEFA Women’s Nations League group with an impressive tally of 18 points.
Hanna Bennison and Sweden topped Italy’s group after running out emphatic 6-1 winners over Denmark. Bennison appeared from the bench, while Amalie Vangsgaard started for Denmark.
Viola Calligaris and Alisha Lehmann’s Switzerland fell to a narrow 1-0 loss against Norway. Viola played the full 90, and Alisha came off the bench.
