A 13-year-old boy died in Ciudad Rodrigo, in Salamanca province, overnight from Sunday into Monday after a fountain collapsed during celebrations of Spain’s World Cup triumph, the town hall said.

La Roja beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final.

A municipal message expressed sorrow and offered condolences to the family, and wished a swift recovery to others injured.

Emergency crews received several calls a few minutes after 00:30 local time reporting that a fountain had collapsed onto several people.

Another youngster was hurt in the incident.
