FIFA has set a record prize pool for the 2026 World Cup in North America, with group-stage exits worth at least $12.5m.
According to Le Progres, the federation signed off a $871m allocation in April 2026, roughly €765m, for team payments, up from $440m in 2022. The expanded 48-team tournament will be staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Every federation will receive $2.5m to cover preparation costs and a $10m participation fee, guaranteeing a minimum $12.5m, about €10.7m, even if eliminated in the group phase.
FIFA has not yet published the round-by-round breakdown for other finishers. The champions will receive $50m, about €43m, for victory in New York on 19 July.
In April, Gianni Infantino said FIFA’s strong finances allow unprecedented support for member associations and highlighted the distribution of surpluses, as he seeks re-election next year. Argentina earned $42m for winning in 2022, and FIFA projects $13bn in revenue for the current four-year cycle.
