This Sunday, Georgia clinched a superb victory over Bulgaria, reigniting their World Cup 2026 campaign.
After suffering a defeat in their opening match against Turkey (3-2) at the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Georgia needed to bounce back. Their task was to outperform Bulgaria, who had previously lost 3-0 to Spain. And that's exactly what they did. The match quickly swung in Georgia's favor.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia led the charge for his team. The PSG winger opened the scoring late in the first half (30'), followed by a second goal from Nika Gagnidze, set up by Saint-Étienne's Zuriko Davitashvili (44'). Finally, Villarreal's new signing Georges Mikautadze put the game to bed (65'). With this 3-0 win, Georgia is right back in the thick of the qualification race.
