Bouchra Karboubi appointed referee for Côte d’Ivoire vs Burundi clash

The referee for the upcoming match between Côte d’Ivoire and Burundi has been revealed: Moroccan official Bouchra Karboubi will take charge of the game.
The 37-year-old referee already boasts 39 matches at the top level, handing out 151 yellow cards, 4 red cards, and awarding 9 penalties. Karboubi was also in charge of the Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria (0-1) group stage fixture at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
To ensure a seamless performance, the Moroccan will be assisted on the touchlines by Arbertoune Abdessamad and Bouchtaoui Zakaria, with Temsamani Hicham serving as the fourth official.
The Côte d’Ivoire vs Burundi showdown is part of Matchday 7 in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and will take place on Friday, September 5 (7 p.m. GMT) at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.
